29 February 2012: The Times and The Guardian report Anti-Slavery's concerns over the proposed changes to the migrant domestic worker visa. The tying of domestic workers to one employer willl give unscrupulous bosses the power to threaten workers with deportation if they do not comply with whatever they demand.

1 February 2012: British men forced into modern slavery abroad: the investigation by the BBC uncovered that criminal elements of the British and Irish travelling community have been transporting vulnerable British men abroad to work as virtual slaves.

The story broke on BBC News at Ten. More details on the story including detailed eye-opening account of events by one of the victims on the BBC website. Anti-Slavery Director Aidan McQuade was on BBC 5 Live Breakfast commenting on the story (go to 1.11.24), as well as many other local radio stations.

30 January 2012: The Guardian has published Pete Pattisson’s follow up to our ‘Cost of Living’ video, where he visits Nepal and Beirut to try and discover what happened to Lila Achariya, killed in Lebanon after being trafficked into domestic slavery. The video is once again narrated by Hugh Quarshie.

29 January 2012: Press Officer Paul Donohoe was interviewed in the London edition of BBC One’s The Sunday Politics discussing the situation of migrant workers in Dubai and concerns that Transport for London has taken money from Emirates (100 per cent owned by the emirate’s ruling family) for sponsoring their new cable car across the Thames (Fast Forward to 45.25 mins)

24 January 2012: Anti-Slavery International named among The Top 100 Word's Best NGOs by The Global Journal. We came 59th, 9th among UK's NGOs and were the only British NGO of this size in the top 100.

20 January 2012: Anti-Slavery Director Aidan McQuade was interviewed on CNN as part of a panel discussion to discuss the issues raised by the news broadcaster’s film on child slavery in the Ivorian cocoa industry.
