BUY VIRTUAL GIFTS FOR CHILDREN AND WOMEN affected by slavery IN NIGER

Anti-Slavery International's alternative gift shop provides the opportunity to give to a community of former slaves in a remote desert region of Niger. The gifts available will go to five new schools and local women’s community groups.  These gifts can be purchased for friends and family for any occasion and we will send you a gift card describing the project and your generous donation on their behalf. You can choose to support the Schools project and/or the Women's Groups

Schools Project

	Books: £10 Education is the best route to a better life. Education is particularly important in these communities as they previously did not have access to education and parents were not able to make decisions affecting their children.Our goal is to build a library in each school and your contribution could help make this a reality. Quantity
	School Dinner for 60 Children: £20 For the majority of children attending our schools, the balanced meals provided in the canteen are their only source of nourishment. The meals will also encourage parents to send their children to school. Quantity
	Pharmacy: £16 per month to maintain a pharmacy The schools are becoming the centre of the communities and the existence of a pharmacy is crucial to maintain the health of the students as healthcare is not available anywhere else. Your gift of £16 will enable a pharmacy to run for one month, providing essential immunizations, first aid, and medication. Quantity
	Solar panel: £1000 Solar panels provide much needed electricity for running a computer and fans and enable schools to be used at night for adult literacy work and community meetings. Quantity

Women's Groups

	Goat: £20 Goats can be a real lifeline in Niger. Your contribution will provide two goats for a family that has been affected by slavery. Besides providing meat, the goats will also provide an income from the sale of milk. Quantity
	Micro-credit for women: £30 A loan of £30 can be used to buy grain, seed, and other materials the women can use to start a small business like a mat-making co-operative we set up this year. This program enables women to become self sufficient and gain confidence and helps them to achieve greater equality in the community. Quantity
	Wells: Improving access to clean water: £11000, The people of Northern Niger struggle to survive without a clean water supply. They are forced to drink from natural pools or local rivers and many suffer from cholera and dysentery. Your gift could help fund wells which will provide safer water so that lives are no longer lost needlessly to diseases caused by contaminated water. Quantity
