Parvati in India
“I was sent to Delhi three years ago when I was 13.
"I would wake at 5am and start the cooking and cleaning. I swept the floors and then scrubbed them with cloths. I got the family's children dressed, fed and ready for school before the driver came, and I made chai and breakfast for Madam and her husband. I would continue washing clothes, ironing and cleaning and have a short break at 3pm. I'd carry on working until 11pm and then I slept on the floor."
After three years, Parvati realised her wages would never reach her and she ran away. She wanted to return to her family and not realising the distance, began to walk home - a journey of at least 1700km - with little food or water. She was spotted three days later Nirmana, a local organisation providing support and assistance to child domestic workers, was called.
